Bocas del Mar Hotel is situated on the Pacific Ocean at Boca Chica, on the mainland in the province of Chiriquí, Panamá. No boat transfer is needed. This is the gateway to the unspoiled islands of the Gulf of Chiriqui Marine National Park.

The provincial capital, David and its airport are 50 minutes away (frequent regional flights from here to Panama City (for worldwide connections), Bocas del Toro & Costa Rica). We operate an optional transfer service from the airport as well as Boquete. There is also car rental at the airport with most well-known brands & taxis. (Normal sedans & hatchbacks can be used. A SUV is not essential).

Boquete is just 90 minutes away, making it ideal to stay a few days at Bocas del Mar on the warm ocean side, before or after a visit to the highlands. It is also perfect for a few days stopover when driving along the Pan-American Highway between Panama City and Bocas del Toro, as we are at about the mid-journey point.

How to find us if driving

The hotel is 2km before Boca Chica, a small and laid-back fishing village, which is just 20 minutes from the famous Pan-American Highway (known locally as the Carretera InterAmericana). From the highway, follow the local road that runs via the village of Horconcitos*

The hotel is signposted just before Boca Chica and is reached by its own short private access road. (*Driving tip: on passing through the center of Horconcitos village, take the right fork at the small triangular park by the church to pick up the Boca Chica road.)

Flying in from N. America, Europe or S. America

You will arrive in Panama City’s Tocumen Airport (IATA code: PTY). From here you have 3 options available for onward travel to the hotel:

1. Connect to a regional flight from Tocumen Airport (PTY) to David (DAV), (our nearest airport) using COPA Airlines, part of the Star Alliance (www.copaair.com). There are 2-3 flights daily (flight time from Panama City is 45 minutes).

2. Or transfer from Tocumen Airport to Albrook Airport (PAC) in Panama City (30 minutes by taxi) for other regional flights. Air Panama runs frequent flights from here to David (DAV) (www.airpanama.com). This also gives you the possibility to discover Panama City on the way if you wanted.

3. Or the interesting drive from Panama City is 420 km/260m.

Transfer from David airport: We can arrange an optional shuttle transfer from David Airport by road to the hotel.
